What is Masonry?
Masonry is the world’s first and largest fraternal organization. It is guided by the enduring belief that each man has a responsibility to make the world a better place. For 300 years, Freemasonry has enhanced and strengthened the character of individual men by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, and the search for truth – within ourselves and the larger world.
Our History
On November 9, 1909, a number of Masonic Brethren met for the purpose of forming a Masonic Lodge in the City of Perris, California. Plans proceeded and on March 10, 1910, the Grand Lodge of California presented these brethren with the authority to regularly meet as a Lodge under dispensation. The first official Masonic meeting took place on March 14, 1910. The charter was issued at the subsequent Grand Lodge Convocation and was dated October 13, 1910.
A new masonic Temple project began in 1965 necessary to maintain the vitality of the Lodge. In 1969, Sun City Masons eventually traded a parcel of land they owned for the land where the current Masonic Temple is located, approximately one mile northeast of this original tract of land on the east side of Interstate 215. On September 23, 1978, Perris Lodge #411, F. & A.M., conducted a Cornerstone laying Ceremony to dedicate the new Masonic Temple, now located at 27221 McCall Boulevard, Sun City.
Elsinore Lodge No. 289, chartered on October 11, 1888, met in Lake Elsinore for the entire period of existence until a merger was made. It brought a small but active membership with a consistent record of activities aimed at presenting Freemasonry in a positive light to the community.
On September 1, 2005, after the consolidation of Lake Elsinore Lodge No. 289 and Perris Lodge No. 411, MENIFEE VALLEY LODGE NO. 289 composed of 280 members was created and born.
